The new M88 is a MIDI file player with it's own built in General MIDI sounds. Unlike the earlier M86, you can send MIDI data to other keyboards, computers, vocal harmony boxes, etc. But more importantly, it has the features you the MIDI musician have been asking us for. 

The floppy disk drive takes DD or the more commonly available HD disks. Shortly after starting a song you can remove the disk, and replace it with the next song disk. You can even choose the next song, from the new disk, while the first song is playing. Thanks to a specially created algorithm, songs are ready to play in a very short time.

An all new sound generator makes the M88 suitable for use on stage, studio or home, and now you can connect via MIDI to other devices if you prefer.

Editing basic controls such as tempo, transpose, mute, can be carried out on the fly, or prepared in advance and saved to your own performance disk.

Tempo is a "relative" control. This means that once the new tempo is set, tempo changes that take place during the song increase or decrease in proportion to the new tempo.

Mute is set to default on MIDI channel 4 (the melody) however you can select to mute any single MIDI channel, or simply adjust the volume. These changes can then be saved to disk for future use.

A microphone input lets you sing along and mix your voice in the audio output. An integrated Digital Signal Processor adds numerous reverb effects to the microphone as required.

By connecting an optional foot switch, various functions, such as Stop/Start can be operated hands free.

MIDI lyrics can be displayed "karaoke" style on a TV equipped with a SCART
socket. The audio output, including microphone can also be heard through the TV sets speaker - ideal for practicing or family karaoke. Most MIDI file players require you to buy an expensive interface to do this, yet it is all built into the M88.

Few, if any, of even the most expensive MIDI file players can offer all these 
features. Despite this, the M88 is currently the lowest priced fully integrated MIDI file player by far.
