SAMPLER (+ document)
Roland styles are available in 3 formats. These are:
MSA, MSD and MSE. Your
owners manual will explain which of these formats suits your model keyboard. We
have included some of the popular models that use the various formats for
indication purposes only - check your owners manual for specific information.
Downward compatibility:
Downward
compatibility
is supported in the Roland range. Keyboards that use
MSA type styles can only play MSA. Keyboards that use MSD styles can also use
MSA, similarly keyboards that use MSE styles can also use MSD and MSA. The
difference being that if a keyboard that can play MSE is used to play an MSA
style, some of the advanced features of the instrument will not be triggered. In
practice this may not make any difference as a well programmed MSA style will
sound better than a mediocre MSE style. For this reason we can highly
recommend the RD range of style disk that will work on all models.
